Finding Synergies and creating Impact together
by Lisa Bösch, Member of AGYLE 2023 Cohort and Young Energy Professionals Germany
Being part of diverse professional and voluntary networks is not only fulfilling but also a source of inspiration and creativity. As a member of both the African-German Young Leaders in Business (AGYLE) network and the Young Energy Professionals (YEP) of the World Energy Council –Germany, I’ve had the privilege to connect these platforms to explore innovative solutions for the global energy transition. This journey has been about sharing knowledge, fostering collaborations, and having fun along the way.
Highlighting global expertise through podcasts
The YEP network serves as an interdisciplinary platform for young professionals in the German energy sector to shape a sustainable energy future. One of our initiatives is the Young Energy Podcast, which provides a space for sharing stories and expertise globally. Inspired by this, I collaborated with my AGYLE colleague Yaw Tweneboah Kodua Odoom, community manager and founder of TroTro Diaries, Ghana's largest public transport community. His work in raising awareness of environmental sustainability and energy issues and promoting local climate action made him an ideal guest. While producing this podcast episode was a learning curve—especially navigating audio editing—it was a rewarding experience that underscored the power of storytelling in driving change.
Leveraging networks for knowledge exchange
Another exciting collaboration emerged when the Young Energy Professionals partnered with the International Partnership for Hydrogen and Fuel Cells in the Economy (IPHE) to organize an online talk on "Achieving a Balanced Clean Hydrogen Partnership: Kenya-Germany Case Study." Seeking an expert from Kenya’s energy sector, I turned to the AGYLE WhatsApp group. Thanks to Karina Faßbender and Enoch Yeboah Agyepong, we connected with Paul Wambugu from KenGen, Kenya’s largest power generation company, whose insights enriched the discussion. This experience highlighted how global networks like AGYLE can bridge expertise across continents.
The joy of collaboration
These projects reminded me that collaboration is about more than outcomes - it’s about enjoying the process, learning from each other, and staying open to new opportunities. Whether it’s creating podcasts or organizing expert talks - the big and small steps - these experiences reflect the essence of AGYLE and the YEPs: building connections and shaping a sustainable future together.
Here’s to more synergies and impactful partnerships in the future!
